It's a quiet time for birds, but Ecclesbourne Meadow is well worth a visit to admire the yellow spikes of Dyers Greenweed, and the delicate pink flowers of Grass Vetchling. Both can be seen by walking along the fence-line.

There heve been plenty of field digger wasps flying about the ditches in the mornings, and a nice wasp beetle along the river. I see and hear reed warblers by the main ditch in the football pitches most mornings, and there are linnets and a great crested grebe on Pebsham Marsh (Poo Farm Pond), with several herons in a nest high up in the trees at the back.
Tracy spotted and photographed three common spotted orchids near the tip.

I was looking out to sea yesterday (Sunday) afternoon when the dark head of a seal (common, I think) popped up for a moment. This was at Bridgeway not too far offshore, and - judging by the noise they made - the gulls were as surprised as I was.
