Fungi: Introduction

Yellow Fungi The range of habitats within Hastings means as with all other groups of wildlife, there is a wide range of species to be found.  To find the greatest variety of fungi woodland is the best habitat to visit and Church Wood is the best recorded site where a wide range of woodland fungi can be found during wet summers or in autumn.

The most important fungi site in the Hastings area though is the waxcap grassland within the grounds of Beauport Park Hotel.  A large number of waxcaps occur here including the scarce pink waxcap (Hygrocybe calyptriformis).
